DD – Hi ELLA 😆 We are thrilled to have you as the Inspirational face and diva on this edition of PURFECT^ESCAPE, you look flawless, I bet you woke up like that (eyeing her nappy hair and thinking how stunning)
ELLA – Hello, As you know, I have followed your blog Purfect Escape for a while and really admire your work, I’m absolutely thrilled to be on the cover of your E-Mag to Inspire people through my Kickstarter drive for THONBS (Soon to be ASOS of AFRICA).
DD – Just to figure you out in a second, on a desert island what three items will you absolutely need? 😛
ELLA – Bible, Lipbalm, and Water.
DD – The above is enough to tell us you are a woman of faith, with your looks intact and hydration to stay alive, you are a fighter. Tell us a little about your motivation for starting THONBS, considering such heavy investment on the website and it’s underpinning technology you have managed to create a site which offers a shopping experience of convenience, affordability, reliability and style – ya nailed it woman 💡
ELLA – Well , the journey of a mile begins with a step. I started an online shop in Cameroon with potential to become the ASOS of Africa, with the right amount of investment and exposure. I have already sunk over £25,000 of my own capital into the business since May 2014 and in June 2015 it has already broke even and surpassed my expectations, the campaign is to seek extra funding and is an all or nothing campaign.
DD – Ella you inspire me and many others, I cannot seem to get the song ‘Do they know it’s Christmas time at all’ off my head. We have been there, seen and experienced how children and adults struggle to cloth themselves or even afford a living in the dire economic crisis in most parts of Africa and Cameroon in particular, your idea of giving back especially during the festive season is fantastic – as it will cut through every single segment. Those who can afford and those who can’t. Men women, and children alike, It is a dream come true! Was this how you envisaged THONBS?
ELLA – My dream is to, through platforms like yours encourage like-minded people to support and share the amazing work we are doing and plan to do via THONBS in Cameroon and Africa as a whole? I would be truly honoured to get as many people onto the bandwagon to bring fashion to the high streets/ big towns and small towns in Africa.
We have only 15 more days on the ticker to make this dream come true!!
DD – What is your strategy so far , who are your target audience and where can they find more information and visuals about this project (that is if I haven’t already purchased all the super sexy clothes I saw 😆 😳 wow I am loving some THONBS)
ELLA – I have launched on Kickstarter via the below link where you can click and support us, the project is growing and as we streamline our goals to meet the targets we will definitely need more support to get Thonbs to a greater audience and coverage in Cameroon .
I also talk more about the inspiration behind the campaign on my own blog here
DD – There has never been an easy method, avenue or place for getting affordable fashionable outfits in Cameroon. One of the sole reasons why second handed clothes aka OKRIKA are the most common fashion accessible merchandise in the country, and are a complete exploitation on another level. Some of these clothes are donations by charities to third world countries but end up being sold at prices that could get you a brand new fashion chic item at a one-stop-shop like Thonbs, what other options do we have but get something authentic, new and fashionable while giving to others who can’t afford as we do so? We really have no excuse.
Get in touch and see how you can support and help the dream of making fashion available to those who can and Can’t afford _ Help THONBS bring fashion home to AFRICA.
